Rookies or not I like to see this, Toronto had 3 or 4 last year that all stepped in and barzal and ho sang are extremely talented. They may not be Matthews and nylander but they are both going to be top 6 forwards and help this team get over the hump

I am looking forward to watching the rookies play. Ho-Sang is a dynamic exciting player. To continue from the last blog - I am concerned with the number of minutes these guys may be playing. Hopefully now that Crappy is gone this kids will get some concrete direction. Weight brought in a lot of coaches so maybe it can work out.

I'm suprised they released Casey bailey from professional tryout. I didn't think he would make big club but would of been great guy for Bridgeport for future call up.

Interesting, McLellan said moving Puljujarvi up was a message to Strome as well, felt he wasn’t showing enough.

Also, McLellan thinks he has the (so far) good Strome (Dylan)

Not everyone flourishes in the show, there is a very long list of players who were the man at lower levels and when they reach the NHL are no longer that and can't handle the change, for some its the pace of play, for others its having to change roles from what they have known. Strome showed flashes thats what made his value enough to get Eberle, but it may be all he is capable of at this level. I do wish him luck, but I think this may have been the right move for the Isles, no matter how much you want them to all be great, that simply just does not happen.

That he was. All kidding aside, Strome did not seem to be a reach where he was selected. I'm sure having Cappy as a coach did not help, but you cannot put everything on Cappy either.

Crappy for sure was a big problem with Strome and the team in general, however I always said with Strome the problem was in his head. Don't know if anyone can fix that imho.

It seems to be 7. Guys like Bailey, Nelson, and Strome seem to have the talent to be a lot better, but they seem to have a lack of confidence or drive. I think good coaching can help, but the player has to want it.

Bailey and Nelson certainly look uninspired at times u I think both are smart players. For me that is what Strome is lacking. You can't fix stupid.

Eberle deal is a win win, we get a good player to help jt and they dumped his salary. I don't think strome will ever reach his potential

He did have a good rookie year. I thought a change in scenery and getting away from Crappy would help him turn things around.

He had a great rookie season. His defensive game was borderline incresible. I thought we had the 2nd coming of Bergeron. Pretty incresible how his game fell off the side of a cliff very disappointing .

For a first year player it was extremely impressive. One of the best first years any rookie has had on this team for as long as I can remember minus JT. Well rounded game. People forget his first season and I bet he excels in Edmonton away from this mess.

I doubt it, he's already on the underachievier list
